The best part is the training. The AF is highly technical and you will walk away with a job that will translate to the civilian world. you will travel and go to places that civilians only dream of. The demands are high. don't let these idiots fool you into thinking you'll be at a desk job and never deploy. Most administrative jobs are being downsized. The AF deploys constantly. My hubby is a crew chief and he works 12 hour days 6 days a week. He is in Iraq for his third deployment in 12 months. he's been shot at and dodged mortars and probably been through more hell than he will ever tell me. He LOVES his job. He made more money as a civilian but the knowledge that he's gained as a crew chief will get him a great job when he retires out. He plans on making the AF his career. There aren't many bad parts. I can deal with th deployments. The pay although very very low is almost bearable since the housing is covered, and healthcare is free and th commissary has great food prices. Also the BX (like the AF Wal-mart) has everything you could imagine from electronics to clothes and rockbottom prices with no tax.

The best part of being in the Air Force is that you are not in actual combat, face to face going one on one with bullets in your face. The worst part about being in the military is that you don't get paid crap!

I don't know about the best part, but if you're debating signing up, make sure your a pilot, because if you turn your head the wrong way they could make you clean planes for your whole military career.
