It matters a great deal to me. It may not matter to some people, and that is just fine. To each her own. Lent is a time that I remember that I am human, and God is God. I am humbled as I remember that I am a mere mortal. I do not have the power that God has. Lent is a time that I am able to deepen the relationship that I have with Christ because I am focused on building the relationship to another level. It is a time of prayer, fasting, and acts of love for those that I love around me. It is indeed a very special time for me.
I respect those that may not practice Lent. But, for me personally, it matters.

I am a mildly religious woman, but Lent is not a part of my faith. Perhaps you should have rephrased your question to be for religious or mildly religious CHRISTIAN women.

Ok...thanks for the 'permission' via e-mail,to answer this.Lent means a lot to some people, certainly not to me.I was raised in a strictly Catholic Irish -American home;I saw the women 'give up' ice cream, snacks, etc. for lent--then go gossip behind one another's back, and cut each other off in the parking lot after lenten services. No thanks.I'd rather try to be a decent human being all year long, enjoy nature and love, and think for myself.
Peace...

Lent is a personal choice. If you give something up to glorify Christ, that is a good thing. However, you are not required to. It is not a tradition founded by the bible, it is a tradition started by the catholic church.

supposed to be a time of preparation and reparation. It matters if you want it to....but things in lent should matter all the time.....if you want them to.
Cynical.....I am through experience and the viewing of repeated hypocrisy.....sorry .
Seems to me like it can be a time to show.....or not.....and the show is not always sincere in its execution.

Only to each one of us who keep the old ways and only to test our fortitude. We human beings should test ourselves from time to time. The wise ones tell us to know ourselves.

You realize that religion is not exclusive to christianity right? It would be good if you rephrased your question.
