Californians are considered to have no accent. This is because most of the movies and television comes from California so that is what everyone is used to

I dont know about other parts of California, but a lot of people in LA talk like a 'Valley Girls' or 'Surfer/Stoner Dudes' This is very common, very distinctive (if you're not from here), and can be very annoying if you think about it. (and also very contagious!)

Valley Girl talk is mostly the the teenage girls who's every other word is 'Like', and also constantly say 'Umm', 'Totally!' or 'Whatever'. I know it was an old 80s movie, or maybe you've seen 'Clueless', but a lot of people really talk like that here, like it was a bad teen movie, and its not just the teens who do it. Adults do it too.
ex. "So, I saw this, like, totally cute car that's like, bluish or whatever in color"
Surfer/Stone Dudes are pretty much the same choice words, except they use 'Dude', 'Man', 'Bro' and some other slang I cant remember right now. (and some of them talk like they're high or something).

Its a fact that there is a huge Hispanic community here, and they do have an effect on the local vernacular. There are a looooot of Ethnic groups here, but I can tell you its the same. Whatever race or community you belong to, if you live in the greater LA area, chances are you use 'Like' waaaay too much, or are around people who do.
Im not being judgemental or anything, its just a cultural fact. I went to New York last month and people there pointed it out to me that I walk (slow and leisurely) and talk like a Californian. I realized they were right.

Steve N is wrong. A lot of people in California were not born there; they are usually the ones in movies. A lot of them were born in New York or Texas. California natives do have an accent, and it sound funny. Not hilarious, just a little different.

What kind of accent do they have? Well, it's a very big State, & people have moved there from all over the country... So I really don't think California has any ONE accent. It all depends on where you go there...
