It would depend, because people who live in the northern US and southern Canada speak the same, especially in the Great Lakes region. I grew up in this region and often travelled to Canada, and we got a lot of Canadian visitors as well. Unless they told me where they were from, I would have had no idea they were Canadian. However, I'm sure British and Australian people would be able to distinguish between a southern American accent and a northern Canadian accent, as they differ greatly.

Dear GOD I hope so!
I can tell a fair number of regional U.S. accents. A New Yorker sounds very different from a Texan from a Southernah, from a Bostonian from a Californian , etc etc Comparing a blueblood from the Eastern Seaboard to someone from the deep south would be like comparing an aristocrat to a cockney!
Canadians do not have much of an accent in comparison. We do not sound like Americans on the whole. Our terminology is different for one thing. I mean Canadians from the maritimes do sound different from those in the rest of Canada but that is about as far as it goes. LoL I had a friend who came to the East Coast straight from the Philipines. What a strange accent HE had!
I would say if there is any difficulty it might be from those along the northern states and the Pacific Northwest because we do tend to sound similar.
I will add that my Aussie friends insist I have an accent. But theirs is amazing! Take an Aussie accent and mix it with an Arabian accent and you get some amazing sounds!

Most Australian and british people CAN tell the difference between Canadian and American accents. As far as different regions go, it is more likely for them to tell the difference between an accent from the deep south, and someone from the north of America. But not likely for them to be able to distinguish one region's accent from another otherwise.

I doubt it, that's why it's so stupid when New Zealanders get pissed off about being confused for Australians. The Australian and Kiwi accent are about as minimally different as the American and Canadian accent, if not more similar because the Australian accent is pretty homogenous while someone from New York sounds absolutely nothing like someone from Texas.
