Close. It is an organized superstition. And because it has so little supporting evidence, it does promote "faith" which is just believing because they're told so. They really discourage independent thought.

Its the worship of judgementalism. What makes you think god wants to be worshipped and thanked? Its only humans that have that need to be made to feel important. I'd imagine if there was a god he'd be pretty tired of all this worship but now! Religion is wanting to feel 'good' it causes the 'us and them'. People like to feel 'better' than others, superieor, righteuos. Faith? Faith is believing what you are told by a priest, your parents, your friends.. Nothing more. If there was no religion? Well..most wars wouldn't ever have happened.Right and wrong? Those are just judgments. Nothing is either good not bad but thinking makes it so. (Charles Dickens)

Osho (amazing man) says 'Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Mohammedanism — these are only ideologies, dogmas, creeds; they are only cults. The true religion has no name, it cannot have any name. Buddha lived it, Jesus lived it — but remember, Jesus was NOT a Christian and Buddha was NOT a Buddhist, he had never heard of the word. There are three hundred religions in the world — this is such an absurdity! If truth is one, how can there be three hundred religions? There is only one science, and three hundred religions?'

Religion works as a form of control and dictatorship, not from love or happiness. To be happy? You must unlearn everything you think you know, knowledge is not the key to happiness. Do animals get depressed? Just live and experience life...stop judging xx

its maturity, enlightenment, right from wrong.

I was an atheist for 28 yrs. I had cars, sex with women, did drugs, party'd, cussed, you name it, I've done it. I've been big in business, I've been small, I've been corrupt and I've been stolen from.

Due to life, the experiences I have gone through, the trials and hurtles. All the lessons I learned on the way pointed to one thing....that all I have lived is a lie, for there is no pleasure or satisfaction in any of it. For if there was satisfaction, once you did something, you wouldn't need to do it again, for you would be satisfied.

That understanding is what made me look to religion, understand it, believe it, see its message, etc. For there is way more to life than a car, a girlfriend, a job, money, anything. And once someone has a child, they start to really see that simple message. For they would give up everything they own, even their own life with most, just for that child. That's love.

That's the only true item in life that gives satisfaction, so all the rest is just garbage.

No, religion (in essence) is attempt to quantify Truth and existence through knowledge and experience to yourself.

It becomes the worship of ignorance when it's worshipers stop pursuing knowledge and experience and assume that they already know the Truth worth knowing, or rely on another person if they don't comprehend it (clergy).

Religion is the belief that there is more to life and death than living here with people that hate each other without any reason other than color, age, sexual preference, religious beliefs, or they didn't like getting out of bed. People that have nothing better in their lives than to bash others that they know nothing about. Religion is the hope that is shared with others that one day there will be a far better place with a lot fewer headaches, filled with love, peace, friendship and no hostility.

Light has no argument with Light and God dwells in light. Not only is He infinitely powerful, He is also the smartest Spirit in the Universe. He can snap His fingers and make every atom return to it's source if He chooses. He allows satan to drive you past your ego to the place where you have no more self left, so He can give you a New Start. Most men will not give it up without using up all of their resources first. God just allows that so you will choose Truth with your Own Free Will. Talk about a martial artist. He uses your power and satans, to drive His sheep back to the foal. By the way God has no reason to be religious, He is Truth, not a perception of truth.

I would say religion is the tonic of the "open-minded." The religious consider ALL possibilities and choose according to the dictates of their own consciences. Dismissing religion as being false is simply to state that you are being closed minded and not considering all possibilities.

James 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain. 27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Well, it does seem that the more faith a religious person has, the "better" they are. And since faith is the rejection of observable reality and fact, then at the very least you could say that religion values ignorance quite highly.
