I wouldn't suggest it. My sister in law regretted it pretty soon after she had gotten the piercing. Can't you think of something more special to do for your birthday? Take your mom out to a movie and then go and get your nails done afterwards. Talk and have fun.

i just had mine done friday. it hurts, but its not the worst thing in the world. you just have to make sure to keep it clean, take tylenol or aspirin for the swelling, and have ice chips once in a while. as far as talking funny, i only have a problem with it when it gets really swollen, and you can barely tell at that. the first couple days eating is hard, and you have to reteach yourself to do it so you dont bite the bar (that hurts just as bad as having it pierced!) once in a while i wonder if its worth it and contemplate taking it out, but thats just the frustration of having it heal. healing an ear piercing or navel is a lot different. you never realize how much you need your tongue til it's impaired! but if its what you really want and your parents are cool with it, i'd say go for it. dont let anyone tell you its gross or a dumb idea. thats all opinion. all that matters is that you want it and are happy with it. have fun!

I had my tongue pierced at 20 and took it out before 21. It didn't hurt me so much, pain is momentarily. I lost weight cuz I was on a blended fruit diet, you can't eat solid food for awhile. But my tongue is pretty long and fat so the bar was banging up the roof and bottom part of my mouth. I think you're too young to be putting in a piercing anyway but that's for your parents to decide.

im guessing these other people havent gotten because it doesnt really hurt it actually hurt more to peirce my ears but afterwards you do talk kinda funny and it feels sore but its not too bad when u eat its going to be kinda hard so just try to have liquids drink a lot of ice water the cold helps with the swellin and the water helps so that it doesnt get infected. mine didnt swell or at least i didnt notice you might talk funny idk i did for about 3 days just because its hard to get used to it if u talk to much it might start to hurt a bit rinse your mouth every 1-2 hrs with sea salt water dont use regular salt u can use mouthwash 1-2 times a day but mix water in it so that its not to strong if u dont dilute it u could slow down the healing hmm... i think thats just about everything u need to know if u want to ask me something else u can email me

I know two guys that did that and they both regretted it. They talked funny and it was just a bother. One also pierced his bottom lip, but when he drank anything he leaked. Think twice. If you still want to do it, go to a clean place and take real, real good care of it. You absolutely do not want to get an infection.
