a normal deployment time is 6 months, unless he's on a ship or in japan. If he's just a deployed pog 6-7 months is a very good timeframe.

6 months.

I spent a deployment in Japan, and I know the group before me spent a whole year there due to 9/11 and whatnot. I personally believe in the adage, "Semper Gumby" because one never knows what may happen. Still, I understand that for families, it's extremely hard to subscribe to that philosophy.

Good luck! Remember, you are important to someone on the forward edge of the spear, your support matters!

Folks.. it's not a great idea to put this kind of information on the internet. For security reasons, we don't want anyone who doesn't have a "need to know" to have any more information about our troop movements and deployments than absolutely necessary. Remember... it's the world wide web... not just the web for allies...

To put you in touch with other Marine Families who have deployed Marines and can share in a more secure environment... I refer you to .. MArineParents.com It's got family and friends of current recruits and Marines... and is a great (and OPSEC minded) resource for everything to do with the Corps.

The USMC family you'll find there will help you through deployment... they're GREAT!
