Buuuuuuttttt, I have seen just as good, if not better work come out of my local shops. Is it just because they are on TV that makes them great? They have a decent looking bald, muscular dude working for them. A pretty good looking girl, very talented I might add. All of us bald muscular dudes are pretty good looking though; can I have a TV show?? This is for fun. Rider.......be nice!! Your thoughts...........

First, let me say that Joe Capabianco is going to be on the show - I think they realize they have to switch things up a little. I love his stuff and can't wait to see him there.

I will tell you that in the beginning, some of us got a little annoyed that people were looking to them as the "model". Many of us wrote letters about how horrible it was that they would be hugging clients right after being inked with no bandages, and, in fact, HAD no bandages but were putting SARAN WRAP over the tattoos as if that was normal or proper.

Because they are on TV, they owe it to the industry to be above board and be absolutely clean. They are OUR representatives. They have, I believe, come a long way in that regard, although there is still room for improvement.

That all being said - they do decent work and that is what people need to see. It makes it REAL when people of all age groups, professions, etc., are getting tattooed there and people see that they are not writhing in pain, passing out, vomiting, etc. AND have some pretty kewl tattoos to show for it all.

I am now convinced that Miami Ink is doing us proud in that way. It is amazing how much of "Middle America" watches this show out of curiosity. Education. They learn and then get tattooed themselves - it's a good thing.

By the way, Kat and Garver rock!

Edit notes: My man is a bald dude, too! I fantasize about putting on bright red lipstick and smacking kisses onto every bald head in America, even if my lips are tattooed!!

More Edit notes: Rider, "Pimp my Hide" is great for Blair!!! Love it!

I've seen lots of artists with work that's just as good if not better. Having a tv show doesn't make you the best in the business....alot of it is all about connections - like any other job or business.. I would go for a show Blair...you can be the bald muscular dude or you can put on a wig and be the talented chic

While Miami Ink does some really good work I agree with you that I like my local artists work better. Having a tv show doesn't make you the best but it gives you a better understanding of what goes into making a tattoo possible.

honestly MOST people who are not familiar with the tattoo culture aren't aware of the potential that a tattoo can be. they really think that all tattoos are just old school style simple basic things or the God awful tribal that every meathead likes to get.
sadly the world at large has not been exposed to artists such as nick baxter, nikko hurtado, jesse smith, mike devries etc.
so when these people see the average but good work that comes out of miami ink they honestly think that it is the best of the best of the best. which is fine i guess. but it would be cool if there was a show that showcased world class artists like on a weekly basis went from city to city documenting some of the most talented artists out there. "normal people" (for lack of a better word) don't know what is out there so we should educate them!

I think there's a bit of security behind it. I know if I ever got on that show, I'd think "Clearly they HAVE to do an amazing job on my tattoo, because this is going to be on tv...so they can't mess up."
That'd be my reason for going on that show, anyway. Maybe other people just want their 15 minutes of fame?

Plus...who wouldnt want to be tattooed by a decent looking muscular bald guy?

i AGREE AND DISAGREE....theres many talented tattoo artist that tattoo just as good if not better. Kat Von d is really the only one on that show that you can actually say deserves to be reconized. Portraits are NOT easy, and hers are flawless,Ive been tattooed by her, and many other people who are some of the best around california. and I agree if you had a TV show, people would line up around the block for you to tattoo theyre girlfriends name on them, all b/c your "famous"

Just wait for LA INK. Kats new show...theres going to be all new artist that will blow you mind!

i think its just the hype.. the fact that they're on tv, everyone idolizes them and thinks theyre the greatest artists ever. i mean, dont get me wrong, i like the show and all, and yes, they are good artists.. but there are many just as good, if not better that dont have a tv show..
and i'd watch your show. if i believed in god i'd thank him for muscular bald guys.

I agree. Sometimes, the work that they do is no better than average. Because they are on Tv, they are celebrated. I would rather go to my artist than to miami ink, any day!
