The dentist wants to charge a friend $320 for theirs and i have seen some at a store for $20, is there a difference? Also, he's having a bridge put in after years without those teeth, the lower teeth have started to grow further up, he doesnt want a curved bridge like the temporary one is. Will those lower teeth wear down when the permanent bridge is in? Can the bridge be made perfectly straight? What if the whole treatment plan was paid for in advance with credit, and the dentist seems set on their plan? All he wants is a complete straight smile. What should he do? Please help.

THERE IS AN ANSWER TO THIS MULTIFACETED QUESTION.
FIRST, THE MOUTH GUARDS MADE BY THE DENTIST ARE CUSTOM-MADE IN A LAB WHERE THE PROPER SHAPE OF THE MOUTH GUARD CAN BE DESIGNED. NOT POSSIBLE WITH THE $20 MODEL.

SECOND, THE LOWER TEETH WILL NOT WEAR DOWN AFTER THE NEW BRIDGE IS PLACED. THE NEW BRIDGE CAN'T BE MADE PERFECTLY STRAIGHT BECAUSE IT HAS TO MATCH THE WAY THE OPPOSING TEETH EXACTLY. THE DENTIST WON'T PUT IN A BRIDGE THAT IS HARMFUL TO YOUR FRIEND.
THERE ARE NATURAL CURVES TO SMILES CALLED THE CURVE OF SPEE AND THE CURVE OF WILSON.
TO HAVE LITERALLY STRAIGHT TEETH WOULD REQUIRE DENTURES.

There is a big difference in night dental guards that you buy in a store and ones that the dentist makes. In cases where people are missing teeth and/or have jaw problems the store bought guards can actually cause more problems. The guards that you get from the dentist are made of a better material and are custom made. It is very possible to bite through store bought guards escpecially if you grind your teeth or anything like that. If I were your friend I would definitely spend the money letting a professional that is experienced make proper fitting guards from good quality material instead of using store bought ones. I have tried store bought guards and specially made guards by my dentist and I am just thrilled with what he made me.

$320? My dentist charged me $601, plus the seating fee. After going through quite a few store bought ones, she said that custom was the only way to go with my mouth, (complicated medical hystory/needs, have over 25 diagnosed conditions) and I wear the custom one every night, compared to the store boughts that I'd wear for a month, and then stop due to the improper fit. Make sure to wear it at LEAST every other day, or the teeth will shift, and it won't fit anymore.

Aside from just costing more, it has a little bit of a stronger ingredient, but if you have the time, the store one for $20.00 is just as effective but takes a little longer....my dentist told me that..as for the bridgework I am not sure, but even though you have paid in advance it shouldn't make a difference as far as what he wants done....ultimately he has the choice of what plan he chooses, the dentist should advise but the patient is the one that makes the decision. Hope all goes well. Good Luck.

The dentist has stronger potency in their guards

Have him check out a college Dentist. Much cheaper and same results for less.
