If you don't know what your doing I wouldn't recommend it but you can go to start run and type msconfig. There is a start up tab just uncheck the programs you do not want to run upon start up. You will be forced to restart your system. Upon restart you will receive a message check to never get the message again and click on ok. That should do the trick.

Well, you can right click on most programs and hit exit, but i think that you are trying to stop those programs from loading up all together. There is a way to do it in XP without third party software by going to "start" and clicking on "Run". After that, type in msconfig and hit enter. In the new box that pops up, go to the start up tab, and uncheck any programs that you do not want to start up. If you choose to use third party software, take a look at Tune Up Utilities 2007, and use it's start up manager in order to remove start up entries. I hope this helps.
