it means who ever was trying making BBQ chicken sure sucks at this job. And also sucks at picking the right setting.

Most people who do that are Teenagers who feel persecuted enough to play at Black Magic. In all honesty, real black magic is not like that, quite complex, and very few have the patience to do it.
Essentially, in the area, some one is either trying to scare some one, or some stupid kids want to play "Devil Worshipper"
You should call the police about the dead animal though, you might have a degenerate too.
