Some of the answers aren't very helpful (or nice) are they!

None of the countries of the UK have their own category. If you look at the travel section you'll see it's divided into different countries around the world - Argentina, Canada, Ireland, United Kingdom etc. Each of these is sub-divided into major towns and cities. Questions concerning Northern Ireland would be posted under Belfast just as questions for Wales would be posted under Cardiff or Swansea.

Hope this helps.

You are classified as United Kingdom, which is England and Ireland and Scotland and Wales all rolled into one. Northern Ireland is not a separate nation, it is part of the United Kingdom. When it is England Scotland and Wales, then it is classified as Great Britain because they are on the same continent.

England Scotland and Wales are Great Britain.
Great Britain AND Northern Ireland form The United Kingdom.

The United Kingdom includes Northern Ireland. Only Great Britain does not. Look at the cover of a UK passport if you don't believe me.

Well, Americans run this site and Americans want Northern Ireland to be part of Ireland. They might not support the IRA anymore, but the sentiment is still there.

That is a good question, and the answer can't be found in a text, can't be concluded from facts, it can only be answered with opinions. It's my personal opinion that Northern Ireland is always associated with England, given the fact that its citizens have chosen to stay under British rule......it all goes back to religion, the cause of most of the wars in this world. The Republic of Ireland stands out because they are unique....they have oppossed the very things that Northern Ireland stands for (or, should I say, "stood for"), as both north and south are fed up with the violence and tension. Yes, Northern Ireland deserves to be noticed, but are overshadowed by the country to which they are loyal, England.

With a large part of the population looking for closer ties with the rest of the Country--Ireland. including many protestants, who knows what the future will be.

A good point.

I suppose that there are so few questions about NI; why do you not raise it with Yahoo?
