Well your Battery under the hood is 12 volt, your alternator creates ac power and is rectified to 12 volt DC, Your Cig Lighter is 12 volt DC power. Everything that requires electricity in and on your car is 12 volt. unless you have a Block heater and that is plugged into your home outlet and is 120 volt ac.
Most newer cars have more than one 12 volt power outlet, Like my Toyota has three 12 volt outlets in front, and one back in the cargo area.

Hope this helps you out a little bit

You didn't specify the make model and year of your car so we will have to guess.

Usually the 12V is the battery. It is a rectangular box found USUALLY under the front hood at the front driver side corner of the engine compartment. It will have two large wires coming off it (again usually one red and one black).

The battery is used to power on the equipment in the car (radio, A/C, power windows) and to start the car by sending power to the ignition coil or starter.

Once the engine is running, the engine produces power by turning the "alternator", which is then stored back in the 12V battery so you will have power for the equipment in the car, the lights, and for the next engine restart.

The battery in your car delivers 12V to the engine ignition system, accessories and lights. Basically the whole electrical wiring in your car is "the 12V system".

A 12V is a battery. Try looking for that big black box with two cables coming out of it, one black and one red. 12V is also a measurement of electromotive force, or "electricity" which most vehicles require to run, also most of which vehicles run on 12 Volts.

12V means your car has 12 cylinders that make it run, 6 on each side of the head of the motor. (Right in front of you when you open your hood, shielded with thick metal).
