Of course, respect others and then you'll be respected.
But (and this is a question for men AND women:) do women respect men? And for men: do you feel that you get respect from women, in general?

I respect men until they give me a reason not to - same with trust. I respect my bf and believe I always will since I don't see him ever doing anything that would cause me to change my mind.

I think that alot of women are losing respect for men and generalize too much but good women are out there. Just gotta look a little harder.

O.k. for me this is how it works, My co-workers *females* respect me alot they are very kind and sweet to me. My friends that are of the "female" gender are also very respectful towards me. Every girl i have ever been with has treated me like utter garbage and walked on me constantly i have never been respected by my significant other and I've often been cheated on. i don't understand why this is. So yes i do get respected by women just not someone I'm with.

I believe i respect them and go out of my way to show it. I think most men dont treat girl or women correctly.

I feel quite well respected. But I'm also honest with everybody and don't lead people to think things about me. If I don't know something, I'll admit it and not play it off like I do. If I know it, I'll help. I also treat everyone the way I would like to be treated and that seems to be the trick.
