I am a catholic and in Genesis it tells us that we can eat all plants and fruits from the bushes but doesnt say anything about eating meat. Should we take this literally and not eat meat? What does this mean? Did God not want us to eat meat? Give me your oppinions. Thank You.

Well before the fall of man, we didn't eat meat, however after the flood there are clear indications that we did eat meat.
The fact that God gave dietary laws that included meat means that God doesn't mind us eating meat.
Later in the New Testament God opened up all meat to human consumption.

People did not eat meat until after the flood. At that time, God gave us animals to use for food. Gen. 9:3. At that time, only certain animals were declared "clean" for man to eat. In the New Testament, God spoke to Peter in a vision and showed him that now all animals were to be considered "clean". Acts 10:1-15

Well, we know that God Himself was a meat-eater, demanding bloody holocausts at regular intervals, which He would "lick up" from the altar. Anyway, the idea of a "vegetarian on principle" would never have occured to the people upon whom the biblical accounts were based. There were plenty of superstitious classifications of animals into "clean" and "unclean," probably generally based upon previous bad experiences; but it's clear that "God" the character in the Bible was OK with the concept of people eating animals.

You didn't read the whole thing:

----------------------------------------------
Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth. The fear and dread of you will fall upon all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air, upon every creature that moves along the ground, and upon all the fish of the sea; they are given into your hands. Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.
"But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it. And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each man, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of his fellow man.

Somewhere else in the old Testament it tells us which animals are okay to eat, and which aren't. I know that cows are on the okay list, but that is all I remember.

However, Jesus came and with Him the New Testament. The teachings of the Old Testament no longer apply to us. We only have to follow Jesus and His word. I have never found anything in the New Testament that says we can't eat meat. Just so you know...

In these scriptures, God tells us that all animals are for meat for us to eat.

Genesis 9

1 And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth. 2 And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered. 3 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.
