As a healthcare provider I have prescribed Lyrica for neuropathy with alot of success. Give it a try...it's usually what I try first.

Coming from the other side of the question, as a patient I have used both Lyrica and Neuronten (Gabapentin) and I find that the Lyrica exacerbates too many of the symptoms that I already have. It causes bloating and swelling of your hands, ankles and feet. It causes weight gain. I tend to have edema anyway and take a diuretic for that. I do not want anything that makes those problems worse. For me the Neuronten does not cause any side effects at all and really helps with the pain.

Yes Lyrica can help with sensory neuopathy. I have taken it before, and it didn't help any Nero pain with my Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, but I know that some people have excellent results with it.
