What is the maximum score?
When I took the test, the max was 155. I scored very high. What percentage group is a 96?
The asvab is the military equivalent to an IQ test. You can be incredibly book smart and yet, still incredibly dumb. I practically maxed the test when i took it, I was an enlisted Marine and I would have never made a good officer. I'm too reckless.
If you score above the 90% percentile, you can request a guaranteed job in almost any field. Just don't forget, there are many parts to the asvab. You may score highly as a logical mind and yet a 0 as a leader of troops. The military has had a lot of documented results and they trust in this test.
It's not the score, (I believe Custer was first in his class and Lee was last) but about the potential for growth.
I can't speak about other services, but I've served under some Marine officers who were dumb as posts yet got the job done. That's why the military is the great equalizer. Intelligence does not equal common sense.

Sounds like you would be a perfect applicant for Army Officer Candidate School. You already have your university degree.

With your Mandarin language ability, they might wish to commission you into the Military Intelligence field.

Trust me when I say that at the 4-6 year mark, every young officer (you'll be a Captain at that point) gets several phone calls from professional placement agencies, trying to lure you out of the military and into one of the Fortune 500 companies they are hiring for. You'll have no trouble landing a great management job after a few years as an officer. Seriously.

Talk to an Army recruiter and tell them that you want to apply for OCS. Don't settle for anything else than OCS -- except possibly enlisting for college loan repayment, if you have big debts (they pay your loan off, up to $65,000).

Just take it already if you scored a 96 on the practice exam you'll do fine.

The real exam gives you credit for getting your name and address right. Seriously, you have to be brain damaged not to kick the asvab's ***. You'll be a shoe in for intelligence with a 96 on the practice exam. Just go take the test already. You'll be surprised at how well you do.

You have to look at the law of averages. In my training platoon of 86 guys, there were about 3 of us that scored higher than a 96. Everyone else had an IQ about room temperature and they were BORN for a career in the military.

Bright folks have a harder time in the military than the dumb ones. We don't take orders well and we have a tendancy to second-guess our commanders.

Go into a field that will take advantage of your huge brain. Don't go into something that is more physical than mental and you'll do fine.

Good luck.
