Your question raises questions in two quite different areas - is there an age when bathing children together should be discontinued? Is it appropriate for children other than siblings to be bathed together?

There is no definitive answer to either one in my view. What is best is determined by each of us based on our attitudes and beliefs.

With that said, depending on the situation, unexpected results may occur. I remember clearly when I was about 7 or 8 and my brother (aged 3) and I were visiting my cousins at their farm. Hot water was in short supply so we were bathed together. (My 5 year old male cousin and my brother and I. My female cousin was 10 and was away at a friend's during the visit.) As we entered the tub it was apparent that the boys' penises were different (my cousin was circumcised, my brother was not) While I was used to seeing my brother, I had never seen another boy's penis and thus I was surprised. Actually my male cousin must have been mystified too, as he asked his Mom what had happened to my brother's penis. His mother's explanation was brief but, as I remember it, she told him that his penis was like my brother's when he was born but she had asked the doctor to remove the skin covering at the end to make it easier for him to keep clean. My brother didn't understand any of this but I was amazed to learn this fact. The subject was quickly changed and I might not have given it more thought but a short time later my brother came home from a visit to the doctor with a bandage on his penis, and I later noticed that he had been circumcised. My Mom never discussed the matter with me but I have often wondered whether our bath together ever had any impact on the fact that my brother got circumcised. Maybe it didn't but it is amazing how such experiences can affect kids!

Food for thought!

It's ok, but the boy should bathe by himself. I have 3 siblings (2 sisters and a brother), and I had to bathe with my sisters until I was about 10 years old in order to save money on the water bill. My brother always took a bath by himself. We also shared a room until we were 12.

It's not a big deal, I'd just let it go, but I think the boy should take a bath by himself with a guardian watching him to make sure he doesn't slip or anything, since he is only 3.

i dont see anything wrong with it...they are still young enough that it shouldnt be a problem...my 3 year daughter and 5 year old son bathe together all the time adn on occassion my brother who is 11 has come over and has bathed with them...its been a year or two now since he has but i dont think its a big deal...when i was younger i remember taking baths with my friends and i think i turned out ok...they may be old enough to bathe on their own but it may have been just one of those nights that happen every once in awhile where they bathe together...the only time where it would be a problem is if the parents were making them bathe together when they wanted to bathe separate...i wouldnt worry too much!

With the younger girls, i think its okay but an 10 and 11 year old should know how to bathe themselves separately. Also i think the little boy should be bathed alone considering he is a male. :P

But i don't think you should concern yourself over it.

Bathing together is not sexual. I showered with my friends and I bathe with my 3 year old.

Three kids in a bathtub? Must be a big tub! I don't think the boy should be bathing with the older girls. That's kind of wierd.

I would just let it go. The 11 year old and 10 year old may be a little weird together, but I wouldnt say anything. Its not that big of a deal.
