It's probably not dandruff like we have. Its dandruff caused by dry skin. What I use for my dog and my cats is fish oil with Omega fatty oil. Pet Food Stores sell it in sprays, they also sell the gel caps that you have to cut to open. I give my pets one gel cap every other meal. You'll probably get to discontinue the gel caps or spray in the summer.

One possible cause is bad diet - if you're feeding kibble (dry food) your cat may not be getting enough moisture.
Cats, like many humans, don't drink enough water. They're designed to get moisture in their food, so this is a common problem.
Investigate the links below about cat nutrition, and convert your cat to a canned food diet.
It worked wonders for my cats - dandruff gone and shedding down as well.

It's probably a dry-skin problem. Try feeding him oily stuff. You might even look around for a pet vitamin made with that sort of problem in mind.
Good luck!
