...I believe some people will do just about anything in the realm of ideas involving trying to attract attention to themselves. I also believe there are some underlying mental issues seemingly hard at work here as well. Anxiety and depression come in many forms and of negative behaviors and irrational thinking. Obsessive compulsive people fall into these categories as well. I say unless you're looking for bad press,...I'd keep these conditions under wraps with a qualified therapist of psychology. Getting ill or sick for attention is not considered a normal operative condition of mentality. Everyone loves positive attention of one kind or another,...but having to make yourself sick or ill in order to get it is self defeating.

I know somebody that does this. What she does is everything somebody else has, she gets it a million times worse. For example if I get a cold, 100% guarenteed(my husband and I have bet on it) she will call the next morning and have a cold only it is just a killer. The biggest joke was when my brother got food poisoning, she had it too! Ya, they live 100 miles apart, what are the odds? Somebody that does this is in desperate need of attention, it would be sad if it wasn't so pathetic.

Lots of different illnesses, inconsistant symptoms which can change rapidly. Whatever the topic of conversation the person always manipulates it back to them and their "condition"!

usually a tightness in the front of my jeans... followed by a somewhat embarassing shift to become more comfortable or effort to hide it. LoL
I usually like a lot of attention during those times.

theyre usually all klingy and dependant, and when theyre having fun or do something they like (e.g. favourite dinner or watch a certain program on tv) the ailments all suddenly dissapear.
they also tend to exaggerate when you (try to) ignore them.
