I have a 4 year old Boxer, he is indoors most of the time except when he goes outside to use the bathroom, so he is a very clean dog, but I feel like I need to give him a bath once a week to keep that dog odor off him and out off my house.

Is once a week to much??? not enough??? or can someone recommend a good shampoo for Boxers???

I would get him something that has alot of moisturizers in it that way it doesnt dry out his skin... I had to give my american bulldog a bath every 5-7 days because of a skin allergy and used oatmeal shampoo.. there is this shampoo called hydrapearls and its AWESOME... ask your vet about it to make sure its the best for your boxer.. theres also doggy cologne that you can get!! =) smells really good!!

once a week is pretty frequent for a short haired dog like a boxer. if he doesn't mind the baths and you are that concerned about the smell, try to get some kind of oatmeal or moisturizing shampoo. bathing a dog too much strips the oils from their skin and can dry them out and make them itchy. but if you use a mild moisturizing shampoo i think you'll be fine.

Bathing your dog too much is not good. He probably smells because:
1) The food you feed him
2) The shampoo you use

Try grooming him, and make sure that your house is sanitary. His crate shouldn't be in the kitchen, all the food smells could get onto him. Also cut down the baths to (at the maximum) once a month.

Do you reguraly use a rubber curry brush on him? As in, use it everyday? If you don't, try starting a routine with that. It can really cut down on it.

Another thing is, look at what he's getting fed. Lower quality food can occasionaly cause this.

Other than that, try oatmeal shampoo. I don't really know what else to say, we've never had this problem with our Boxers.

my lady uses oatmeal bath to keep their skin hydrated but i found shampoo and conditioner work grat and make them soft and smelly good. rub the conditioner in real well and allow to sit a couple min or so,the longer the softer it will be, and rinse. once a week is fine that way i do it during the summer to my7 chihuahuas, they love running around wet.

My dog smells sometimes, just use some doggy clone. You can get it at your local pet store!
