It's just the haters trying to come up with something they think is feasible to denounce our preferences for body art.
Most people I know like their tattoos more as they get older because they appreciate fine art. The only problem is with lesser quality work done by scratchers or when people under 18 make bad choices.
Body art does not go through as much change as people here would lead you to believe -- very little, actually.

Skin ages *way* faster when it sees a lot of sun. *A lot* faster. Not only that, but later in life you get effects on aging when you tan a lot that don't see if you stay out of the sun. The folks who are so concerned that they might look like crap when they're 80... do they consider what the sun is doing to them *now* and how that's going to look then? I'd rather have a poor tat than the burnt leather look these folks will have.
I know a number of grandmothers (and grandfathers) who are tattooed. Invariably, I've found them to be very cool, very active, very much not the types who piss & moan in some rest home. Plus, as pointed out, the art doesn't change that much.
It's easy to be young when you're young. It takes character and spirit when you're not.

I've thought about that question too.
I don't expect anyone to look super sexy when they are 60, 70+ and I figure most of my generation will all look the same anyway, so it won't be a huge deal to see another grandma/pa with wrinkled ink (which I think would be awesome, plus, you can bet the grandma with ink will have 10x more interesting stories than the others)
And life is short, I don't want to spend my golden years wondering about the what ifs...I'd rather do them!

I wonder the same thing, who gives a damn what I am going to look like when I am eighty? I'm 27 and life's short, I say live it to the fullest. I love tattoos and don't plan on stopping any time soon in fact I have about 4 or 5 different ideas for new tats right now.

When I'm eighty years old I'm sure my great grand kids will love me tatts and all (specially if I keep candy handy to spoil them with)! Thats all that matters to me. Like my son said when he was a bit younger: "Mommy, your just like a coloring book". Atleast I will have something to talk about to all the other old folks!

I agree!! I think when I am 80 with wrinkly tatts I will be able to look back and rememer my crazy youth! At least My grandchildren will have good stories to hear.....And you are right! Who checks out 80 year olds anyway! We are all gonna be ugly!

It's not just you ..... and the reason you hear it repeated on here ALL OF THE TIME...... The tattoo haters can't come up with anything better.......
It's like someone else said.....I would rather be sitting in a nursing home regretting my ink than sitting in a nursing home wishing I had gotten ink when I was younger...
just one tattooed wise @sses opinion
