Yes, because it is killing people. Second hand smoke is worse than first hand smoke. I don't think anyone should smoke, it is disgusting and a waste of money. There is no benefit to smokeing so what's the point of even having it?

Even though smoking is definitely a bad thing, I don't think it has anything to do with affecting others health when done in an open air public place like parks, plazas or on a public street. When I smell cigarette smoke in public, that is usually what it is; smell!
I am certain I smell other things that are probably not healthy, one I can think of at the moment is others passing wind. We generally look at that (or smell that) as something natural and not harmful, I would think not. Some humans can put out some fairly noxious fume.

As for hotels, restaurants and other more closed-in areas, the owner must submit to the majority which, is usually done with a local vote.

And last, there is this small thing we call personal rights. Along with a host of other sins and unhealthy things we do to our bodies why are those that don't or have given up on smoking so vicious about the smoker not being in the same town?

I would say so. If you smoke you should be able to in your home, car and property I think. Nothing is worse than walking up a hill in cold weather and inhaling a bunch of smoke particularly if you have a respiratory condition such as an infection or asthma. Designated smoking areas are okay if they are NOT PUBLIC.

I think that the government has to much power already. I do hate to breathe second hand smoke. I would think that if our state proposed it I would like to see it happen.

Absolutely not. The next thing you know fast food will be banned. People have choices. Our freedoms are endanger. The second hand smell of a fat laden burger is killing me.

I would say restaurants should have a ban but night clubs should be allowed to choose.

I live in Ohio and they already have, last November. I'm a non-smoker and I voted no. We lost. I think it should be the property owner's decision. Just another example of government meddling with our personal lives.
