I thought they outgrew this after 2. When my son does not get what he wants he will still fall on the floor and make a stink. He is mildly autistic and I know this is part of it. Anyone else still dealing with this at a preschool age?

No, a four yr old is still like a baby. I have a 4 yr old. He is my strongest willed child.
He likes to try to manipulate. Tantrums can be a way to manipulate you.

KEEP CONSISTANT.
By 5 years old I got em trained.
TO NOT BE CONSISTANT is to be your own enemy. Make him or her into a little helper, and never take back-talk.
He/she will grow out of it. Some kids are harder to teach self-controll. They act this way because they feel out of controll, and it is like an internal torture. I remember doing this. If he/she tries this in public, you should say you are going to take him/her home, and make sure you follow through. ( at least a few times of this makes them remember)

Oh and never reward child unless the child says what they did wrong. To never do so makes them become more selfish and numb to error. We dont want them to be large one day, throwing fits. I think you can nip this in this year. ;)

Lots of people are still dealing with this. Try to let their tantrum have as little affect on your actions as possible--don't let them think their tantrum fixes their problem. You'll still get tantrums now and then for a long long time though. Teenagers are terrible at throwing tantrums to get their own way. Good Luck.

I have 14 year old twins, but boy do I remember the days. At about 3 or 3 and a half, whenever they threw a tantrum, I would tell them that it was ok for them to be upset but that they had to do it in their own room...the tantrums stopped fairly quickly. Someone gave me that advice and it worked. Maybe because they were old enough to realize that it wasn't going to get my attention anymore so they stopped...Good Luck.

Don't give in, they'll quickly figure out it doesn't get them anywhere in life!
