I had a complete blood profile done to the tune of well over $ 400 Dollars. I contacted the Dr's office to ask why no results am assured they will soon be in the mail. I've waited over 60 days still no lab results although there sure wasn't any problem in collecting their fees. Is a Dr required to forward your lab results in a reasonable time ? What can I do to get my results. I notice they had no problem billing the insurance for services render. But fail to send the results. What can a person in my postion do? Thank you for your help

Get in your car, go to their office and say you are there to pick up your copy of your labs. They will pull your chart, make a copy and hand it to you. Takes 5 minutes. You have every right to have a copy of your own labs. They must give them to you.

And when you get there, double check the address they are mailing to. Could be that they sent your results to another Joe Smith in their database! Make them tell you the address they have in their files, don't volunteer your info, make them tell you WHERE they mailed it. D u m b a s s e s.

Go get 'em tiger.

Personally, I've never heard of anyone mailing your test results. As a matter of fact, I would not want any of my medical information floating around thru the mail! You can go back to your doctor and request a copy and get the results that way. Normally, you get the results at the time of your next scheduled appointment or if there is a problem, they would normally call you and have you come in. Technically, the only one that can give you the results would be the dr.

Actually I have had lab work done several times and had to call the office to get results. I have only had results mailed when I have requested them and sometimes you even need to sign a release. If you have time you may want to go by the office and request a copy in person.

In my experience doctor's offices are not required to send you the results of testing. (a) They are supposed to go over the results with you at your next visit, personally. (b) Most offices now charge by the page for copies of anything in your chart. (c) If you need the results for another reason (specialist visit, insurance application, disability forms, etc) the person can request information after they have had you sign a release of medical information form. If this is for your personal use, just visit the doctor's office personally and speak with the office manager, they will give you a straight answer. They have to. Hope this helps.

The lab will not usually release the results to the patient, but you can go by the doctor's office and ask for a copy. It is a good idea to keep such information in a personal folder so you can compare results with past and future test. The doctor's office has so much going on I am sure they just overlooked your request. You have to be persistent. ~

I have never heard of drs. mailing resultshome. The patient is suppose to set up a follow up appt, to find out the results. So I would definitly call and make a appt. Because I truly believe that is the only way you are going to get the results.
