I can't stand on the ladder because my parents are overprotective and think I would fall.

Well then, if you cant use a ladder or chair, then ask someone else if they can do that part for you. All they would need is a step stool, a disposable cup and a 2" brush and lots of patience.

They way you get nice lines going next to the ceiling is by doing it with a steady hand and a brush.

You can also do it by getting a trim edge and a roller, but it usually doesnt look as good. Also, one way you can cheat and do it, is to mask off the whole ceiling along the edges, but again now you go back to someone having to get on a stool to do that.

Eh either way, best of luck....

They have these long handles that you can attach to the paint roller. You can easily reach the ceiling using this item and can get to the top of the walls as well. It can be found at a Wal Mart type store in the paint section. They are not expensive. The only thing you cannot do is where the top of the wall meets the ceiling. Since they will not let you use a step ladder, then somebody is going to have to do that part for you with a paint brush.

as naru said, the pole is your best bet. They have different lenths and expandable ones too, which are just a bit more expensive... The pole can also be used with a trimming tool for edging before painting.

If you aren't allowed to use a ladder or chair, how about using a painting platform? It has two metal pole sides with rubber wheels and you place a board (or platform) that comes with the sides from side to side. You can buy this or rent it and they are compact, can be adjusted to different heights, are safer than ladders and don't harm floors... It also makes it much quicker to paint the room. It's also stable and even if the ceiling is really high, you can use the longer pole with this. And I'm just curious.... why can't you use a ladder???

Find a guy to help you. If you have some kind of problem that prevents you from standing on a chair or ladder, the same problem might cause a mess when you try to use a roller at the end of a pole. It's easy to get someone to help you, if you just want to paint one small room. Maybe you can find something to help him with, such as his garden or paperwork or whatever.

Get an extension for the handle of the roller you're using. They sell them in the paint section, or you could try to put a handmade one together from things you have at home, such as a broom handle and duct tape. Secure the roller with the duct tape, and when you finish, the broom can return to it's former glory. You can leave the broom portion on or off, whatever is more convenient for you.

You can get an extension pole for your roller. But to trim out the top you will nee a small roller or paint brush to attach to it unless you paint the ceiling the same color. Then you won't have a mess where the walls meet ceiling. Good luck!

Why are you not allowed to use a ladder of chair? Hmmm...ask if you can use a STEPladder. If they say "no", explain that the PURPOSE of a STEPladder is to step on it (It's like a short ladder that folds open with a place to stand on 1 or 2 feet above the ground).

You can get a pole at lowes or home depot for like $5 that will let you atach your roller to it and give you access to your celing without having to use a ladder.

well they have extention poles but that will not help you for the trimming and i hope you did that first!
i would ask someone to do it for you like a parent. or a tall friend..
you could also get a guy friend and sit on his shoulders ...
but if your painting make sure you have premission!
