Religion in the sense that you can work your way into heaven is certainly nonsense. You have the freedom to teach your children whatever you want. Not so in Islamic and Communist countries. Perhaps you should join the war against terrorism so people there can be free to learn what they want and raise there children how the want. Perhaps you'd rather take away religious freedom so they wont be indoctrinated in religion, but instead indoctrinated in socialism. I'll teach my children the doctrine of Jesus, that everyone is forgiven, all you have to do is receive the forgiveness.

When children are old enough to make an informed decision they should be exposed to all forms of beliefs and religions. Yea right, like that will happen.
No, the fundies will force their kids to their idiotic church revivals and those kids will be brainwashed early. Only the very strong and intelligent will recover.

I don't. My daughter is being raised to have an open mind concerning all religions and philosophies... and although only 5, she has a pretty good understanding of the basics of science.

If it is such nonsense, why are you so obsessed with it that you would ask a question like this?
Why do you feel such emptiness and desperation in your life?
Could it be that in your heart you desperately hope that God loves you and has a place for you?

peopel are so afraid of no structure that they'll chose a bad structure over none at all.
to a smaller degree than they realize, they have a point. But an alternative structure, a truly moral structure that respects human maturity, would be a better replacement.

Many of us have NOT allowed it. I have 5 grown children who did quite well without it, thank you very much. There's not a felon, drug-addict, thief, drunk, spouse-abuser, or ungenerous one in the lot. And they are all responsible citizens who work for a living. (OK, so I go on about my kids sometimes.)

religion is a meme, thrives by being passed on thru the generations, like a chain letter that says, If you don't pass me on, you'll get zapped.
