Where do I go to school to becomea dental assistant? How long does it take?

I'm not a dental assistant myself, but I've seen those kinds of programs offered thru community colleges in addition to vocational-technical schools. I think that it's supposed to generally take about a year to complete, and the program most likely would eventually require the student to complete an externship at a dental office doing the same or similiar tasks of a dental assistant.

The program probably covers topics such as the sciences including the anatomy of the head, face and neck, instruments used and sterilization, universal precautions, radiography, community dentistry, teaching proper dental hygiene to patients, dental billing and office management and other topics.
