I am a proud Army Wife, so I do know about the lousy pay. There are some things we cannot do. I am stationed in Germany so I might feel like there are less freedoms here because we have less choices in interaction with the States.
Thanks for telling me to grow up, as I am done growing, but I can always learn more...I live this life, I know full well what the freedoms are. We cannot post any political views on our POV or in our yard. There are quite a few for this particular rule. There are so many Housing issues. Just a lot of rules in General. When you live on a base, you feel safe and trapped all at the same time.
I guess I will learn to live with these choices that my husband has made for all of my family.
Thanks for your service, because Freedom has never been Free. God Bless you!

They do have freedom. They have made the free choice to join the military and abide by the rules. Their freedom is not gone because their service commitment will end.

Where are you getting your information? I am a retired soldier who spent thirty years in the military. I want to know what freedoms I did not have in the military. I enlisted and signed a contract to go where they told me to and do what they told me to. I was never asked to do anything illegal, or immoral in that entire 30 years. If I objected to anything that I was told to do, or assignment that was given to me I had a chain of command to complain to and a psychiatrist, medical doctor, and chaplain to go to if I had any serious objections to what was going on.
Now I am retired and work for the private sector. I am again asked to do things I don't want to do, but they are not illegal or immoral, so I really don't have any recourse other than to quit and get into another profession.
I am not independently wealthy, and even with full retirement benefits from the military, I have to get up every morning and go to work. Is it my dream job?, No. does it pay my bills and allow me to live the American dream, Yes.
Grow up and get a life.

They know going in what the requirements of military life are.You take an oath, swearing allegiance to God and country, and you do what it takes to uphold the honor that is bestowed upon you.

I believe that if they're soldiers, they know what freedoms they have. They have the freedom to join, don't they? I think our soldiers are the bravest and most courageous people on this earth!

a.) Whose freedom are they fighting for?
b.) If they could do whatever they wanted then they wouldn't be sacrificing. Therefore they wouldn't warrant any special attention. It's the sacrifice of their own freedom that makes what they're doing worthy of note.

If you are referring to the current situation with some (larger)military families struggling (financially) to get by, then NO this is not fair. Otherwise, I'm not sure what you are talking about.

Since the liberation and defense thing gets so much criticism from the left, I suggest we free our military to do the one thing all warriors are trained to do: conquer.
It solves problems. Period.

Military fights because that is what they signed up and get paid to do. I do not know anyone in anyplace that asked us to invade and install a Democracy, that isn't a free democracy that is forced government on a foreign people.
I do know if it is right for anyone to fight, sometimes it is needed, see Hitler/Japan, sometimes it is stupid, see every war after Hitler/Japan.
