Not as well as machine dermabrasion. The home kits depend on how strongly you rub. The little crystals in the kits are supposedly the same crystals in professional dermabrasion. These little crystals a good for exfoliating but the machine shoots them out at a high speed that can't be duplicated at home.

Yeah they do work wonders. But it also depends on many factors like what kit you are using.Whether it is a good and branded one.Use "ARTISTRY MICRODERMABRASION SYSTEM". The gentle, effective at-home alternative to microdermabrasion without the risk! The Artistry Microdermabrasion System offers an at-home alternative to microdermabrasion, providing professional-grade results and glowing skin. It consists of Artistry Polishing Scrub, Skin Refinishing Lotion, and the MicroExfoliation Cloth at no cost.

Product Description:
There’s a reason microdermabrasion treatments originated in the dermatologist’s office. The jagged aluminum crystals it requires can cause microscopic tears in tender skin, if improperly applied. Artistry skin care believes in powerful but gentle beauty. That’s why the Artistry Microdermabrasion System was developed. This at-home alternative provides professional-grade results and glowing skin. The Microdermabrasion System consists of Artistry Polishing Scrub, MicroExfoliation Cloth, and Skin Refinishing Lotion.

Yes, but not as well as the one you get done at a salon. I used the one from Olay and really liked it, it’s a bit stronger than regular scrub and you will only need it about once a week. The kit costs about $22.

they work alright, too well even. even the ones done at salons are very dangerous, the home kits are like giving dynamite to an orangutan.

Depends why you want to use it, for scar removal, I don't know but I used the L'oreal one last summer just to bring radiance to my complexion and it worked wonders. I was really happy with the results. Be careful not to use it too often, can be harsh if overused.
