Ok I am a 15 year old female. I am pretty healthy and last year all of a sudden i got this horrible rash on the inside of my cheeks in my mouth. The dentist told me it was oral lichen planus. i have never even heard of that before and when i researched it, it was said to occur in middle-aged people! It also said it could cause mouth cancer! I have never smoked, done any type of drug or sexually related actions to cause me to get this. The dentist said it could be allergies to certain metals from the dental tools but i get sore ulcers in my mouth even when i havent had a dentist visit. The ulcers hurt so bad that it hurts to talk and eat. I put medicine on it from my doctor but it doesn't help. Can someone explain this to me? It is scary to think that i could develop a cancer or somethig else. What can i do?? Thnx for any hlp u can give me!

Go to other dentists to confirm that that is what you really have.

Maybe you have developed a food allergy.

I'd go to an allergist right away and get a full scratch test done.

If there's no allergy I'd make sure to brush at least three times a day to keep the oral bacteria to a minimum and then gargle with an antiseptic mouthwash and reapply the medicine.

Try to keep a log of when the outbreaks occur what you've eaten last time you brushed etc... It's an inflamation so you might want to take an aspirin a day to reduce the inflamation too.

Sorry this happened to you a know sometimes there's no rhyme oor reason for these things. Let us know how it turns out for you!

I think you need to see someone other than a general dentist. There are specialists in mouth diseases/ mouth mal functions who can give you another assessment. I'm sure your dentist is an honorable man, but he should be able to refer you to a specialist in this area. Also, while online... is there a support group? Often people with the same ailments can comfort and offer their own insights and remedies. You are much too young to be straddled with this for life. By all means, find a specialist in this area. And try to relax... because you have this does not mean it cannot be cleared up, and there is no guarantee that you will get mouth cancer.

Go and see another dentist. The one you have now seems to be taking your condition too lightly. Also a regular doctor can help you. Dentist's only know about the mouth, but not if there is a cancer. You need to see a specialist, which you can get a referal from a regular doctor. GO DO THAT ASAP! You hear me? If you have cancer, it can be remedied, but not if you wait so long that is grows. GO TO A DOCTOR!

You just need to relax. Your mental state has a lot to do with how healthy you are. I doubt that this ill change to cancer as you are so young hun. And even if for some reason it does.... our medicine is so smart that it will be ok. All you can do is give it time and wait. Your dentist caught it early and will treat it properly and you must have faith you must have faith you will be OK. In the mean time, meditate and focus on yourself. Hot baths with scented candles? Try to breathe and relax and you will soon find that rash gone and you back to the full swing of life. Don't worry..... all things work out.

Don't panic, it's very very unlikely it'll be mouth cancer. The stuff you mentioned - sexually related actions, drugs, smoking - are all a big risk of mouth cancer and also increase your risk of developing the disease.
Lots of people get 'rashes' in the mouth - i have spots on the insides of the cheeks in my mouth, but they don't irritate me - you didn't mention whether the rash actually irritated you, excluding the ulcers.
Avoid spicy, sugary and fizzy drinks and food as this can trigger pain. also, if you have an ulcer, Use Lots Of Mouthwash and drink plenty of fluids, like water [even if you REALY don't feel like it.]

Good luck xoxo

i think your best bet is to get a 2nd opinion if you don't beleive your current doc.. then ask your mother to find one that will tell you further information!
most doctors will not mess around with stuff like that.. to many law suits!
so if you do get canser you can sue him/her who said it wasn't canser.. but don't worry if it is cancer then it is curable and you won't loss anything just keep an eye on it! we all get mouth sores too some that are painful some are not! our teeth tend to give us blisters too!
but it's normal!
ask someone with braces..
oh BTW if your doc said it was metel try using plastic wear instead of your silverwear at home and out in restrunts maybe it's that! it could be the bacteria level on your tooth brush and your just sentive to bacteria,, don't worry this will not harm you it just give you a rash! see!
so don't stress out!
we all have some sort of cancer in our bodies anyway we are born with them so for reall don't worry and if you do worry check out my friends web site
kristyrecovers.com
she has lukemia and has it worse then most cancer patiants..
and if you read the stuff she has been through and put yourself in that sistuation you'll love the situation your in now! :)

don't worry you should be fine!

Go to a different doctor or dentist. This one is not helping you. You need several opinions more because you cant go on feeling this way. Go to a specialist if you have to. Your current dentist might be quite wrong.

This is a long shot but have you tried changing your toothpaste? I use a toothpaste called Blanx which is far too expensive but it is very soothing on the inside of my mouth. Most toothpastes I've used seem really harsh and drying on the inside of my mouth.

i think of it extremely is an boastful fact to declare that "greater knowledgeable and civilized" aspects look down on 38% of us of a of america as being "fat anti-hispanic, islamaphobic, homophobic, anti-black, inbred warmongering rednecks". political ideals do no longer gesture at no rely if somebody pertains to those attributes you listed. by asserting that, it sort of makes the implication you made approximately greater knowledgeable and civilized, ironic. yet even with the undeniable fact that, it extremely is in basic terms me.

I'd check it out at Wikepedia - which I just did.

Since it is a dermatology symptom, I would recommend going to a top-notch dermatologist in your area.
