he impales himself with the stick, thus committing suicide. In the ideal sense, he is escaping his prison for he leaves the material world. However, the "man in the room" may also be a metaphor to the status of the average citizen in today's world. Everyone is a victim to their own stress and selfish motives, concepts based thoroughly upon individualism and self-preservation. The philosopher Bishop George Berkely said that when a tree falls in the woods, and no one is there to hear it, it does not make a sound. He is truly in concurrence with the ideology that through the mind, with its five senses, may one experience the universe. Therefore, Berkely would agree with the previous statement that the room is actually a manifestation of the troubles experienced in the individual's mental state. In conclusion, it is now obvious that the only escape from a mental prison is serious therapy.....i reccomend a good dosage of Sesame Street.

The stick is really a pencil and the guy draws a door with a handle, and passes through it just like the girl in the movie Pan's Labyrinth--only she used chalk.

How did he get in? wouldn't he have hadd to come in through a door or a hole? So he could just get out the same way he came in. And you never said there is no holes or walls or any thing like that.
