In the Army, a Private First Class is an E-3. Army ranks go Private E-1, Private E-2, Private First Class (E-3). Private E-1 has no insignia, Private E-2 has one chevron. PFC one chevron and a rocker.
In the Marine Corps, a Private First Class is an E-2. The Marine ranks go Private E-1, Private First Class (E-2), Lance Corporal (E-3). The insignia for Private First Class in the Marine Corps is one chevron.

Both but the marines classify is as E-2 the Army says E-3. Also it stands for Perfect For Cleaning, not Private First Class

In the Army a private first class is an E-3, or the third rank from the bottom among enlisted men, while in the Marine Corps a PFC is an E-2, second from the bottom.
