Like any path -- practice, practice, practice. :-)
Witchcraft 101 would go something like this, at least as I was taught: All things in the universe are interconnected by energy, which some witches (including Wiccans) perceive as Divine in nature. This is how witchcraft works: by focussing my intent, and using sympathetic correspondances (certain herbs for courage, for example), I can create an amulet using those herbs which will stimulate courage in the person who wears it. Similarly, by using a lock of hair from a person who is ill, I can (with their permission) set energies in motion that will help them to heal.
Witchcraft is not a game, or a toy. It is a serious process of setting energies in motion, some of them quite large. And if you're not careful, the backlash can be very nasty.
Say, for example, you do a spell to get $2000 to pay a bill, but do not specify "with harm to none" or any other conditions. You might end up getting that $2000 dollars -- because you slipped on some ice, broke your arm, and are getting an insurance settlement worth $2000. Each spell has to be carefully thought out and prepared, and executed with focus, or else nothing at all is going to happen.
Witchcraft is not something you learn how to do overnight. It's a process of becoming attuned to yourself and the universe around you. One of the first lessons any Wiccan is taught is: "Know thyself." This isn't easy, and often it isn't pretty, but it IS necessary. (Wicca, by the way, is just one of the religions that practices witchcraft -- most Wiccans are witches, but not all witches are Wiccans by a long shot.)
There are plenty of teachers out there; the trick is finding a good one that suits you. You might try the Witches of the World sections over at Witchvox:

Use the pull-down menus on the left to find individuals, groups, shops, and events in your part of the world.
You could also try the Witchcraft discussion forum over at Beliefnet:

If you're looking to do some reading, as a Wiccan I'd recommend "Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner" by Scott Cunningham.I advise you to stay away from anything by Silver Ravenwolf, for reasons outlined in the following essay:

If you have any further questions, please feel free to email me. I wish you the best of luck on your path.

Elders in any of the Pagan crafts are pretty scarce. You may be able to find a New Age store around you that has classes or events. If you go to www.witchvox.com you can find local listings. It helps if you buy a few books or read a lot online before you decide that witchcraft is the thing for you.
Many of the things you read will contradict eachother, and many of them will be things that seem utterly foolish. But everyone has their own view and their own experiences, so even if you don't particularly understand (or believe) what you're reading, you can always find something else that seems more right to you.
A few of my favorite authors are Issac Bonewits, Raymond Buckland, Starhawk and Aleister Crowley. (A general rule of thumb is that if it was published by Llewellyn, it's probably not all that scholarly or serious. Though there are a few exceptions.)
Good luck.

There is truly no one path to Witchcraft. the paths are diverse as those travelling upon it. If you wish to embark upon "the" path, first identify what path this might be for you. What are your desires? What are your needs? Are you wishing to practice to find something spiritual? Or simply to "be cool". Or do you wish to affect change upon your life?
Is your path one of the day or of the night...(not to be confused with good or evil, the energies are different day or night based),
I would suggest doing alot of reading.....internet...books etc...to find what might give you a spark.
I practice a sort that I have found to be fufilling in many ways, and have found others.... My basic principle is "seek your own truth".
I hope you find what your are looking for... There are all sorts of resources on line that may help you if you are looking for a praticular tradition.....or maybe even a like minded bunch....
Look up meetup.com or witchvox.com (I think... witchvox in a search engine should help. For other resources...feel free to contact me off board. I might be able to assist in pointing you in a direction that might work for you. I am in Germany but will be headed Stateside soon.... Best of luck and may your journey be a fruitful one.

there are a number of excellent Wicca 101 books. Starhawk's "The Spiral Path" is my favorite.

Witchcraft isn't real... don't go and get into things like that. I'm not trying to control your life just going into witchcraft is a bad mistake.
