If you checked your facts, The Council of Nicaea did not assemble the Bible. The books existed from the lifetimes of the Apostles. The Council of Nicaea prevented many false books from being included in it.
Look up Arian, and Nestorian.

The bible was compiled by a group of men in the third or fourth century CE. They looked over hundreds of potential chapters for the bible and it is not known how they were selected. The works that were accepted into the bible were already written by people and editing out the inconsistencies could compromise the integrity of what was already written in the chapters. Today there is a lot of interest in the books that didn't make it into the bible and there are a number of books about them and are availible to read. One of them is called lost scriptures, but thats the only one i know of.
The inconsistencies could also be caused by the fact taht the actualy scriptures were written sixty to one hundred years after Christs death so the information was passed down orally until then adn some details could have been changed or distorted over time. Also, not all scriptures contain the same things and that doesn't mean that its an inconsistency but just a record of a different time by a different person.
Also, the bible is able to be interpreted in many ways and although some interpretations may contradict other generally accepted interpretations, so the inconsistencies may be all in how people interpret things.
Hope this helped

We need to know hermeneutics. This is knowing about the culture of the ancient people among other things. When one or two scriptures seem to conflict, there is always a third that will tie them all together! The Bible was put together when most of the Apostles were martyred. St. John was the last living Apostle and helped in getting all of the letters together. You will notice that the writers of the Epistles confirmed each of the others writings. This is an internal witness. The writings were accepted only if they were written by someone that knew Jesus Christ personally, or walked with one of the Apostles. These "other gospels" were written during the second century by no one knows who. The early Church Fathers, the people that studied under the Apostles, wrote of only the four Gospels that we have today and there are thousands of documents attesting to this fact!! Don't let anyone try to make you lose faith in God's Word. God Bless!!

The Bible does not contain inconsistencies or contradictions. Sometimes it may only appear to when a passage is taken out of context.
It's really difficult because the Bible was written so long ago. It applies to current time but sometimes for it to apply, you have to know the culture in which it was first written.

Like I like to point out, this certainly shoots holes in the theory that the Bible was "edited" by later people (like Constantine).
Luke quotes Matthew word for word in some places, but he uses a different genealogy for Jesus than Matthew does, as many septics have noted. We have to assume that Luke did this on purpose, since he obviously read Matthew if Luke is quoting him in other places.
Perhaps these aren't "contradictions" at all. Perhaps some of the inconsistencies are deliberate?
====edit====
Judging by the responses that you are getting, I don't think that the majority of your responders got the point that you were apparently trying to make.

God wanted to challenge our minds in many ways.
Some of the inconsistencies are very simple (people only need to read a few verses around those examples to see the answers).
Some are more difficult and the answer will be found some where else.
But some are difficult and require studying things from other sources, like geography, history, archeology.
Some people will not accept even the simplest answers because they do not want to believe and they are happy saying the Bible is wrong.

I know of no inconsistencies in the Bible, however I know of a lot of inconsistent people who read and think they know everything there is to know. As for me I have no problem reading or understanding the Bible.

Most people who claim their are inconsistencies have never read the Bible in whole. You cannot take two verses out the bible and claim that it is contradictory. People must read for themselves and try to gain an understanding before making an assessment on it.

Hey Muttley! Let me 1st say this, according to my current studies, though we have some ancient, and or very old, texts in Jerusalem and assorted other locations. Our Bibles are all extracted from copies, of copies, of THE ORIGINAL TEXTS, Since The Originals have long since worn out, this becomes necessary, There are many texts and ,i.e. The Latin Vulgate (Catholic version), The Text-us Receiptous(check spell) which is ,The RECEIVED TEXT (Protestant version) which aligns and has selectively, sorted, tested, and chosen, the texts as authentic, predominately, by reason of in accordance with prophecy fulfillment, linking The Old Covenant to The New Covenant. Also the more recently acquired, Dead Sea Scrolls, which some say solidifies the current texts, others say it solidifies the wrong unauthenticated texts, this deems a closer study, on my part. There are many books, dvd's, videos, out on the different texts, try www.Greatsite.com & the video, The Forbidden Book, also the book, Which Bible is Which (try CBD .com, book distributors, 1800-CHRISTIAN, they have lots at discount prices. also try www.aroodawakening.tv ( from a Jewish perspective of study).... Any way, there are many new translations, all vari- from version to version. Thanks be to God for The Holy Spirit to lead and guide The people of God into The whole knowledge and clarity of understanding through The Spirit of Truth we need not fear, only press into as many ares of study as you find opened to you. He will surly bless your diligent pursuit for unfettered clarity, He will not give you a stone when you ask for a fish! For instances, the word EASTER in Old King James,is a Catholic term as is in fact the name of a Pagan festival, of the fertility goddess Ester who dropped out of the sky in an egg and turned a bird into an egg laying rabbit. (and no I am not making this up!) this occurred around the same time as The Feast of Passover ,which is The True Translation of The Word for (Acts 12:4), ,"PASCHA", in Chaldian or, "PECACH, (peh' sakh) PASSOVER! The word easter has been associated with The Resurrection of Christ, because of Constintine, who worshiped Mythora,(check spell) as far as I know, till the day he died. And mixed his pagan practice(which was Roman) with The followers of Yeshua (Jesus, in English) and declaring a state acceptance of it this integrated religion which included Roman Paganism and Christianity together, an attempt to confused the two, and declare it the new state religion. This is how Catholicism was historiclly, formed. Though the true Followers of Yeshua, first called Christians in Antioch, continued in the doctrines 1st laid down by the Apostles. Through the generations, even the true worshipers of The Yeshua (Yehowshuwa or Eng. Pronunciation Jehoshua) Ha Messiah, (Hebrew), Jesus The Messiah (English translation of the Greek-Iesouce,( ee-ay-sooce).... well I could go on forever, so I exhort you to good stewardship, don't be afraid investigate and make an Idol out of ignorance. The Lords will give us peace as we give Him the issues we are seeking to grasp an understanding of. I know we have inherited , many Traditions of Men through the generations that appear outwardly harmless, please, allow me to leave you with this, The Apostles had a Love For The Truth (all of it, as The Lord delivered it to the saints) we should as well. Also, we are counciled , Those Who Worship Him, MUST, Worship Him In Spirit And In Truth. And the ways of The Lord are not grievous. The walk is not always simple, but if you cast your burdens on Him He will strengthen and give you courage, you may have to swim sometimes against the flow of fellow believers, but there is a reason. To perfect and bring into maturity the saints of God, fearless, without spot, or wrinkle. If you which to contact me further, Tina, oneabba1son1spirit@yahoo.com....Have a Great evening, in His Loving presence!

I've had people tell me there are inconsistencies, and when I ask them to show me they can't. When people say "just read it, you'll find them" are only parroting what others have heard others say. No proof. "just read it" I have. I have not found any. When I say there aren't any, I'm called stupid, ignorant, close minded, brainwashed, etc, but none of these intelligent open minded people have been able to point them out. Hmmm.
