There are four types of the French article :
article indéfini, défini, contracté, partitif
Key in those 5 words (just copy and paste) at Google or Yahoo

They're called 'determiners'. There are 7 kinds:
1) articles (un, une, des, le, la, les)
2) possessive adjectives (mon, ma, mes, etc.)
3) demonstrative adjectives (ce, cet, cette, ces)
4) numeral adjectives (un, deux, trois, etc.)
5) indefinite adjectives (tel, certain, tout, quelque, etc.)
6) interrogative adjectives (quel, quelle, quels, quelles + ?)
7) exclamatory adjectives (quel, quelle, quels, quelles + !)

The: le (ms) la (fs) les (m/fp)
A: un (ms) une (fs)
Some: ms: de+le=du fs: de+la= de la m/fp: de+les=des
This/These: ce (ms) cette (fs)
*cet (ms preceding a word with a vowel)
ces (m/fp)
ms= Masculine Singular
fs=Feminine Singular
m/fp=Masc/Fem Plural
