hes probably soo used to you that your really the only one he truly knows...maybe if you invite other family members, or when its a party or something take him around and introduce him to other people and tell them their really nice and not guna hurt him

My suggestion is that you had better take the dog to obedience classes. This is dangerous if the dog were to bite someone, you could be sued & the dog will be put down. Don't think this is cute or that you are anything special, some dogs become very guardy when they are NOT properly trained & socialized. If the dog is not altered, have it done as soon as possible. It can help sometimes.

Socializing is a really good idea. Need to start when they are young pups. You don't say what breed your dog is. There are obedience classes listed in most newspapers or find out from your vet about them. Don't wait to long, the problem only gets worse the older the dog gets. Don't want him to draw blood on someone.

Your dog is protecting you. It is doing its job by protecting you. Your dog thinks that somebody is trying to hurt you and so your dog is doing into defensive mode and ready to defend you and if that is being mean to other people then that is what the dog thinks is necessary. Just tell your dog to stop and say no, or be nice, or he/she wont hurt me. Then your dog will stop barking and being mean to the people that you are friends with.

Dogs are Territorial and have a "pack" mentality. Your dog is just doing what comes naturally. Others are not part of your pack and he/she is not likely to change very quickly to anyone. Exposure and gentle persuasion is the only way to change this behavior and I personally believe that you should probably not try to get him/her to personable so the dog can give you some level of protection if needed to.

You smell like more like a t-bone steak to the dog. Others may not have the same scent. And who knows, other people might smell like old spinach to doggie. Plus love is a bond like no other. Train it to treat others better than ground round.

because you have not done the right thing by the dog, and properly socialized it and trained it...... shame on you,, put your ego aside and train your dog- get into dog obedience classes

dogs are pack animals and your dog sees you as it's alpha leader. it will protect you.

because he has come to think of you as his possession, so he will defend you against any one trying to steal you, he has not been shown properly that other people are not threats to his and your safety
