This is an off the top of the head answer, but in many wars, it is man using his minuscule brain, rather taking the call from God and doing it God's way, I might compare this to Road Rage, even shooting other people. I think so often when people have questions about God and religion, if they would turn to even just the Bible Stories for children. For example, my 2 grown children that I raised as a single parent since they were 6 and 8 and had a local good relationship with their Dad, now prefer their Dad, I was crying about it once and talking to God, and He said, Wendy, you are not a bad mom, look at Eve's kids, one son killed the other. Life happens, but most of the bad stuff is not in God's will, it is in that free human will we choose because we have two natures one of the flesh and one of the spirit and we always are fighting both, kind of like Donald Duck sitting on our shoulders, one whispering in each ear, one the "devil" and one the "angel" from an old Disney cartoon.

First of all I suspect That you have become victim of a certain notion proposed by atheists that more death has occur ed through religious wars than anything else. This is a political stance that has little bearing on the facts. Notice that they conveniently leave out The 20th century and the wars of the godless socialist states. Do you really think that Hitler, Stalin, and Chairman Mao caused less death and destruction than the wars over religious persecution, or dominance?

I love how all the atheist scream over and over, ALL WARS ARE CAUSE OF RELIGION...yet here they have a chance to list it out. And what is their answers?
" the list is to long to list out "
Oh whatEVER!!! What a cop out on your own words.
WWII was not caused by religion
WWI was not caused by religion
Vietnam war was not caused by religion
Korean war was not caused by religion
American Spanish was was not cause of religion
Civil war was not cause of religion
Colonial and Native Indian wars were not cause of religion
so where are all these religious wars? a few they saw on TV from the middle east. And those that watch and believe the TV become "boob tubes". They will believe anything that is pumped at them by that TV. So to see a few mentions of war and religion on that all holy box....they just "***-u-me" that all wars are this way.
Its easier thinking for them and less work just to call everything red....for then they don't have to work or think, but be nothing more than a sheep.

almost none of the wars throughout history were caused by religion.
religion is often used as a reason or a cause, but more often than not the true motivation for war is economic or political.
most wars are started because one side or the other has something to gain from it... be it land, resources, fortune or power.
religion is not something you can gain. even if you win the war, your side does not benefit by taking the other sides religion or forcing yours on them.
the reason it seems like religion is such a huge factor in war is because it is often used as a motivation to rile up the common man to support and fight in the war.
the leaders who profit from the war convince the people that their religion is under attack from another religion, this is almost never the truth, but propaganda to garner support.
GREED is what causes so much war and death. not religion.

Most of the conflicts in the middle east have been over who has the rights to the "holy land". If there was a God I think they would be totally disgusted and that particular piece of real estate would be their least favorite on the planet. Then there were the crusades. Also, through history rulers have cloaked their desire for war in religious language and claimed God was on their side. It may be people have used religion to their purposes but nonetheless it has been a tool for war.

Only one that I can think of. That was the first of the Crusades to eradicate the invading muslims. The muslim religion caused that one. All of the other wars of the earth have been caused by greed and the hunger for power. If you count the war on terror, then it is two. And this one too is also caused by muslims that want to conquer the world and make all infidels either bow down to them, or die. Their words, not mine.

Religion is not the cause of wars and never have been. Can't you get your head out of the sand dune? Wars are fought and always have been for power and control. Power and control of land, resources, gold, money, and yes even oil, etc.
Religion is used as a tool to rally others to war. Claiming that it is their religious beliefs that are at stake. Thereby claiming the high ground.
The Sunni's in Iraq are losing their power that they had under Saddam so they claim to be fighting a religious war when it is only and always has been power and control over others. There is billions of dollars at stake in Iraq. Billions in oil revenues.

Don't be fooled. Religion does not cause wars, it justifies them. War is causes by economic factors (land, oil, technology etc.). People just use their religion to justify why they are more deserving of the resources than the next man.
