It is 9 numbers long and USUALLY looks like 12-3456789. Some paycheck stubs have them on it and some do not. It depends on the company. It could be listed as Fed ID number or FEIN. Just some suggestions.

It is called an EIN and usually starts with 2 digits, then a dash, and several more digits.

If you are still in the same city as the employer, most businesses have their License to Operate framed, and posted on public display, often near the cash register if there is one. The EIN will be shown on it too.

EINs aren't normally on your paystub. An EIN is 9 digits, formatted as: 99-1234567. Normally you'll only find your employer's EIN on your W2.
