Is it hazardous to your unborn child if you work around sick people, being pregnant and working in a hospital?

Do they make you stop working or you can work for as long as you physically can?

i'm not a nurse and am not pregnant, i was just wondering.

No, you can work.... I see pregnant nurses and doctors all the time. Only some nurses and doctors are around "sick" (as in contagious) people regularly, and they make sure they wash their hands often, etc.... Also, when you work in healthcare you are usually required to take immunizations (or you just take them because you're smart and you dont want to get sick).... There are more hazardous things for unborn children....

No, you can work for as long as you physically can. If you take the normal hygenic precautions, there is no reason you will get sick more than people in other professions.

I'm sure they work as long as they can. I have known some female Dr's and they've done just that. I'm sure they take every per caution to protection their child. They are most likely selective in their work. Who knows, maybe one will answer your question.
