If you just want to dye it, you use dye to change the color. You would use a bleach to lighten. If you don't want to go to a salon, go to a beauty supply (such as Sally's). They can usually direct you on what to buy to do what you want.

youll have to keep using lighter tones till it gets to the color you want.lemon also lightens hair.
