My son is 13 months. We recently started weining and are down to 2 times in the evening, he is has a milk allergy. Recently he started to wake up every few hours and cries and tosses and turns like he is uncomfortable. I have tried everything I can think of, pain killer, nursing, water, rocking, singing. he seems angry and just not content. He has to sleep in the same room as me. He starts the night off in his crib and the rest of the night he sleeps in my bed with me which is another problem. Is it a phase or is it teething? Is this normal?

I am not sure what is wrong with him. It may be teething or even some other kind of alergy. I do have to say though to not give in to letting him sleep in your room. If you start that, then you will have another problem down the road. It may even be that you did it once and he liked it so now he is repeating that just to get into your room. I am not certain on that but it could be.

All babies have sleep cycles just like adults. When you hear him being "uncomfortable", he is probably just in the light portion of his sleep cycle. YOu need to put him to bed in his crib and DON 'T GO BACK TILL MORNING. It will be a few nights, maybe a week, and he will stop. YOu are currently rewarding him for crying in the night with attention--of course he's going to keep THAT good deal going for as long as he can!

Are you giving him cows milk? That could definatly be upsetting him.

If he has an allergy, why are you weaning so soon?

I am sooo thankful i have milk to give my son (who also has a dairy allergy) to be sure hes getting enough of everything he needs!(hes nearly 14 mo now)

Could be seperation anxiety, if its not digestion issues... how are his poops?

My son starts in his crib and comes to bed with me the first time he wakes as well... theres nothing wrong with it, he will eventually grow out of it.

Could it be gas?

About the ending up in your room...Could it be that he has figured out that his writhing and crying is earning him a coveted position in your bed, so he puts on his show nightly to get what he wants? The solution, if this in the problem, is simple: Don't give in to his "demands". Before deciding that this is what is going on, though I would consult the pediatrician. A change in his diet or feeding schedule can make any man testy and grouchy!

Good luck to you!
