Keep them simple. I am using flowers to match my bridesmaids bouquet in a simple low centerpiece.
To be honest, when looking at our budget, flowers came way below photography and catering hall and music. I cannot remember going to a wedding (and I have been to 11 last year alone) where I even remembered the centerpieces. I remembered the music and the food. As a bride, I would rather spend money on that and good photos with everyone than the flowers.

I have many ideas, but I would need to know your theme and colors. Here are some examples.

Love theme - colors pink and silver ( my theme and colors)
A spiral silver heart table card holder in the middle with two frosted silver votive candle holders -pink candles inside - on each side.

Fairytale theme - Miniature castles or pumpkin carriages

Beach theme - Miniature umbrellas or sand pails.

Classic wedding - Flowers, clear plastic bowls filled with water with floating candles inside.

Check out some of these websites for help.

I'm using floating candles, mirrors and a bowl or vase......I'm going to place the vase or glass bowl on the mirror and put the floating candles in side the vase or bowls......the light will reflect off the mirrors and look very nice i think.....you could also use flowers in a vase but make sure they aren't to high that the guest cant see each other.....also a new thing now is fruit in large glass vases.....its all your choice....whatever you all think is nice and in your budget........good luck!!

i love to use candles. thats what i did last year. check out surroundings.com. they have a nice selection of floating candles and bowles. i used the hour glass shaped one and had 3 mall candles in each. i also had colored glass pebbels in the bottom. i also found some votive candles with the cups on a wholesale site and were pretty cheap. we also sprinkled rose petals on the tables. just a suggestion. adds a nice romantic feel to the room.

Its so expensive to go mad with decorations, so unless you have the budget for it then don't go over board. We're using candles from Ikea (so cheap for a massive bag of tea lights) and church candles standing in groups of varying size. Those and a few scattered rose petals will look simple and elegant.

Make a cornucopia out of white lace paper place mats and fill with rose petals. Lay them on their sides and allow a few of the rose petals to tumble out the end onto the tablecloth. Use rose petals which compliment your wedding colors.
