I guess it seems like more natural water, unfiltered, like they would find outdoors. I might suggest you get a lid of some sort for your tank though, for the sake of the fish! ;-))

I guess that thje water in your tank has had some sort of de-chlorinator/heavy metal remover put in it. This makes the water taste and smell nicer.
Tap water tends to taste of chemicals unless it has stood for a while (like 24 hours) so if the water in the cat dish is always fresh from the tap it would always taste chemical when compared to the fishtank water.
However dechorinated water goes stale very quickly unless it is aerated and/or flowing so it's no good using it to fill the cat dish either.
I'd suggest getting a lid on the tank before an accident occurs
My cats go mad for de-chlorinated water whenever I change the tank water.

the only reason your cat is drinking out of the fishtank is because your cat wants to eat the fish....my cat does it once and a while

they drink the water out of that tank because it is moving (the filters/bubbles/etc) it makes it fresher because of the added oxygen. its the same reason why some will only drink out of a running faucet.
try getting a kitty water fountain and that should stop them from doing it.

Because fresh water isn't as good as fish water.

i'd like to charm to close what attracts them to water as well that it really is of their water bowl My cats love ingesting from the flower pot and glasses on the table or from the lavatory basin the position you wash your hands ?? i imagine it amazes them no longer positive as to why notwithstanding

the water in the fish tank is colder than in their bowls. put a few pieces of ice in the bowls.

all cats do that...not sure why but maybe it's cause they like fish and the water taste like it

because the aquarium water is fish flavored *LOL* geeze why do we humans drink anything other than water? because it tastes good
