INGREDIENTS
16 ounces milk chocolate chips
1 pound fresh strawberries with leaves (do not wash the berries under water. strawberries soak up and retain water [bad when you are dipping them in chocolate] the best and proper way to clean straweberries is to use a paper towel and whipe each one off. this will keep the berries freasher longer)

DIRECTIONS

In a double boiler, melt the chocolate and shortening, stirring occasionally until smooth. Dip the strawberries into the chocolate mixture. (make sure that the strawberries are dry and not wet, a single drop of water can ruin the chocolate mixture)

Place strawberries on wax paper or some kind of non sticky surface like aluminum foil (best if placed on a cookie sheet).

Let harden (or put into the fridge for a 10-15 minutes to let harden.)

EAT!

Most of the answers on here are correct, but if you really want strawberries that look like the ones you can buy in professional sweet shops, you'll need to mix some parafin in with the chocolate - this makes the chocolate stick to the strawberry. You can find parafin in the grocery store, generally in the aisle with the canning supplies or candles and things.

Instructions -
melt the parafin in a double broiler
(I use about 1/3 a bar for half a reg. size bag of chocolate chips)
add the chocolate chips and allow them to melt
(resist stirring until the chocolate has all melted)
stir the parafin and chocolate together and then dip the strawberries and lay them on a sheet of wax paper
you can chill them in the fridge, but if you don't have to transport them, I think they taste better when they haven't been refrigerated.

Set them on a parchment-lined baking sheet until the chocolate hardens. Dip a spoon into the chocolate, and drizzle onto the parchment paper to make a design Set aside until it hardens. Hull the remaining strawberries, and cut in half. Arrange the chocolate-dipped strawberries in a circle on a chilled platter, and top with the halved strawberries. take your fresh strawberries and wipe them clean with damp
paper towels and set back inside your refrigerator to keep them cold
In a double boiler this means 1 pan on the bottom has water in it and 1 pan on top is dry,get the water to a slow boil and in the top pan add your chocolate of choice and using a wooden spoon stir
the chocolate as it melts.
After the chocolate is melted remove the double boiler from the heat.get your chilled Berrie's and dip in the chocolate and place on waxed paper to cool and decorate if you desire.

first wash the strawberries.....you need to melt your chocolate in a double boiler so you don't burn it.....you can use Hersey's bars or chocolate kisses for milk chocolate, or chocolate chips for a semi-sweet chocolate.....just dunk the berries in the melted chocolate and allow them to cool/dry (you may want to repeat this a couple of times to get them really coated).....you could lay them on wax paper, or come up w/ some way to have them cool standing up (by leaning them against something)

most grocery stores have a kit to make them. you can find them in the produce section close to strawberries, you just microwave the chocolate pieces and dip the strawberries in it and let them cool on wax paper. they are quick and easy and no mess you just toss the empty container.
