I work with this really crazy dude at this resteraunt that claims to be a film writer/actor. While he is at work he "flies around in his F18 Super Time Hornet" fighter jet, ( it can travel through time so he can go save the world by finding out whether OJ really did kill his x)claims he is married to Jennifer Anniston (sp?) and has a child with her, and that he has keys to the playboy mansion. The guy will come up me and tell me the same stories over and over again, talk about his vow to not touch himself till he is 30.....im still shuddering over that one....and everyone is kinda scared of him. The boss doesnt even want to fire him because he is scared that dude gonna come back with an AK and unload on the place. Now i dont like him, but as far as jobs go, i gotta a decent one with good benifits and cant afford to give them up right now so i kinda got to stay...any suggestions other than dude benifits not worth it, get a new job?

Your boss needs to grow a pair and fire that lunatic. The boss should devise a plan and have the police escort Jennifer Annistons husband off the property. The cops need to give him a trespassing warrant, that means If he shows his face ever again he will go directly to jail. Most crazies don't like jail, so it's fairly effective. usually.

I think if he acts any nuttier or you fear he going to hurt you, then by all means get out of that job. It qualifies as a hostile work environment so you can get unemployment after you quit. Just be sure you have the home phone numbers of some of your coworkers to give to your unemployment case worker.

Plus, you can take your benefits with you in the form of COBRA insurance. If you ask you boss about COBRA they might get the clue that you are really thinking about leaving due to Captain Screw Loose.

Be safe and take care.

I am a retired chef with 30 years experience in the restaurant business and crazies like this are attracted to the food industry. If your boss doesn't want to take care of the problem, the best thing is to contact the labor board. You shouldn't have to work in an environment that you feel is unsafe. Your boss is responsible for the safety of his employees and should be man enough to take care of the problem. Personally,I would take him out by the dumpster and rattle his cage a little.

sounds like to me he lives in a delusional world and needs to come back to earth!! and with a person like that no telling what he would do. Remember what some Postal workers did. But also it sounds like he is more mouth than action. If he worked for me he would be gone out the door. With the notice never to step back on the property. The owner also should contact the local PD and maybe they can do a background check on him. GOOD Luck with this one,,and NO don't quite your job at all, maybe your boss could(should )give him a real hard work schedule to keep, and then he would disappear somewhere, maybe to outer space

Hey dude went thur this a while ago. If you can't put up with it, your boss is scared to confront him.
2 choices one do your best to ingore him or plan B quit.
If it bugging you that much it is time to get out.

I choose plan B

It was ruff but I survive with most of my mind still intact.

Find another job if you are scared for you safety & tell your boss this when you put in your notice. Until then, make sure that you have an escort out to your car every night.

Get another job and let your supervisor know that your fright of the other employee is the reason you are quitting. Life is just too short for you to have to contend with that sort of behavior.

Find the biggest guy that works there and put him in his place. Or you just kill him, (no more problem) Tell me, what and where is the restaurant. I might get hungry some time, and might stop in.

If you act crazier than he is while he's around, maybe he'll be scared of you. Try growling at him and barking and foaming at the mouth the next time he is bugging you.

Have human resources deal with him. Then take a week off after they fire him.
