There is no cure for a hangover but time, oxygen and lots and lots of water. Now you can avoid one. Obviously you can opt to not get drunk, but speaking as a scientist there are preventative measures. A hangover is similar to dying of thirst. Your body is dessicated and needs water to complete necessary functions. By removing sugars from your drinks and drinking plenty of water along with or between alcoholic drinks you will lessen the chances of a hangover. Contrary to popular belief you shouldn't drink on a full stomach. When you have finished your drinking for the night provide energy to your body to complete its functions--eat before retiring for the evening.
So:
1. Drink diet mixers (Nutra Sweet, Aspartane, Splenda, diet sodas)
2. Drink a glass of water between drinks
3. Stay away from sweets
4. Eat a decent meal AFTER drinking alcohol (p.s. This will NOT sober you up. It will in fact extend the drunkeness, but also stop the further rapid absorption of alcohol.)

A hangover is caused by a decrease in B-complex and dehydration. After drinking and before going to bed do the following: Take a couple of aspirin, some b-complex supplements, and a large glass of water. The more water you drink, the better you'll feel in the morning.

Okay, so aside from the obvious "don't drink so much", try doing 1 for 1.....1 drink then some water, and so on. You may pee alot, but it helps. If that doesn't fly, when you get home drink as much water as you can handle, take a multi-vitamin and 2 Advil and get your butt to bed. In the morning, drink more water (even though the thought may make you want to puke) and 2 more advil. Grab something greasy for breakfast, like a Sausage Biscuit meal w/a a Coke from McD's, and just rest up. In my day, that was the best method I found :)

The only way to avoid a hangover is to not drink. There is no "cure."

For all these people saying "just don't drink," I really doubt thats what this person wants to hear....
For all of us out there who enjoy a night of drunkeness and would like to cutdown on the misery next day, here's some helpful tips.
- Prior to going to sleep, drink a few large glasses of water (2-3 usually works) it also helps to mix in a snack of some sort.
- Try to plan your night so that the rate in which you take your drinks decreases as the night goes on. Start to sober up before laying down. If you lay down and the room is spinning, you're in trouble.
- SLEEP IT OFF. This doesn't really work if you have to get up at a specific time (thats why its never smart to go crazy on a night before work) I have found that when you are forced to get up and you feel like ****, the hangover magnifies. Lay there until you have totally regained the energy to get up.
- Wake up and have a hearty breakfast. Lots of coffee.
All in all just know you're limit. If you have reached your limit and continue to shoot whiskey, you'll probably wake up feeling shitty. Use your head.

no cure... sorry! you can try taking some acid reducers & aspirin (not acetominophen or ibuprophen!), and drink large quantities of water. also, try drinking a very large Pepsi cola with the aspirins - Pepsi contains pepcids that will soothe an upset stomach.
to prevent a hangover... you know the best way - don't drink to excess. also, pace yourself and drink a full glass of water between each alcoholic drink. you will feel too full to over-drink and you will keep yourself hydrated that way. if you are going to drink large amounts, do so without added sugar. alcohol is made of sugar, so restrict your mixers: do vodka and club soda with lime or lemon, or vodka or gin martinis with dry vermouth not sweet. any rum drink = hangover, due to rum's high sugar content & the fact that it is almost always mixed with sweet juices or sodas.

believe it or not creatine works great, follow the directions on the jar and hydrate properly, creatine helps the muscles absorb more liquids, and do this a few hours before you go out
biggest reason for the hangover is the dehydration
my sons started using it and after i read what it actually does thought I'd give it a try, IT WORKS G R E A T

Learn to pace yourself, as your body can only manage about one drink per hour. Don't use sugary sweet mixers, stay with water and whatever liquor you drink. Don't be afraid to switch to non-alcoholic drinks every so often, just to keep yourself steady. It is better to stay sober than to wonder what the hell happened. As for a hangover, you need to get your electrolytes in order. Try a teaspoon of salt and a teaspoon of sugar in a glass of water, and if you have any, a few drops of Bitters. That can be purchased in some grocery stores in the mixer section, or in a liquor store. Try to eat some cereal and juice for breakfast, and as you learn your limits, getting smashed won't be so much fun, or so expensive. Best wishes
