I just read an answer from someone that said marijuana isnt addicitng, I just wanted to see if there are other misinformed people. I have been to rehab and majority of the guys there, about a quarter of the girls, WERE there because of that drug. To say its not addicitve is very wrong

HAHAHAHAHAAH i think its funy ppl that say "oh yes very addicting indeed" without any further explanation

heroin, caffene, methamphedamines, ritalin, opium, nicotine are chemically addictive substances.. they can create a chemically induced physiological AND psychological addiction (physiological dependancies can create strong addiction. ie) Chemicals signals tell your body when you are deprived of the food your dependant on and your nervous system creates strong hunger for food.. its sometimes painfull and only eating can releive it. same thing when deprived from other chemicals your body has become dependant on)
You are often also psychologically addicted to the mental state this drugs induce as well.

As to Marijuana. not chemically addictive ie no physiological dependancy.. however it CAN be habitual if you become psychologically "addicted to" the pleasant feeling it gives you. You can be addicted to gambling, sex, sports, blogging, warcraft, driving cars realy fast or any other number of activities you may find pleasant or excitingand do compulsively.. these are the same category of addictions as weed...

Sorry, the misinformed one is you. Marijuana is not physically addicting and contains no chemicals that are physically addicting. There is a possible psychological addiction, but it is rare. I don't know what rehab center you went to, but I guarantee if you went to every rehab center and did a survey of why people are there you would find that marijuana is a small fraction. I've dealt with addicts a lot and they people addicted to alcohol, crack, heroine, meth, or whatever other drug will do anything, I mean absolutely anything, to get their fix of that drug. However, I have never in my life seen anyone willing to do anything near what I've seen from actual addicts just to get some pot, and it isn't because I don't know people that smoke it or anything like that. I know people that smoked for 30-40 years and were heavy smokers and just decided to quit and have yet to meet someone that has trouble quiting. If you are addicted to something you can't just quit it with no trouble, if you do, you weren't addicted to the substance or your willpower is amazing. I know several ex-addicts that would laugh in anyone's face that said they were addicted to marijuana and with good reason, they were actually addicted and find it insulting that someone would suggest they are addicted to a substance like marijuana that isn't addicting.

The only credible sites I have ever read that even hint that it could be physically addicting also stated that the only reason they even consider the possibility is because they got half a dozen or so e-mails from people saying that they know someone that is addicted physically and they have to consider the possibility that they aren't full of ****. Most sites I've seen even say that it is extremely unlikely to become addicted psychologically addicted. Also most, if not all mention of it being addictive has been stopped even in anti-marijuana propaganda, that should be a hint that since they no longer even say that (they base most of the ads on bad information and even all out lies such as the lie that it flattens brain waives that was pulled off the air after too many doctors/scientists/etc complained that it was a lie). Either way good luck with whatever you went to rehab for and I hope that you research this and find the same conclusion that I have, that it isn't addicting, or even prove that it is addicting if that is the case and I have been mislead.

OK i have smoked everyday for around 6 years. Around 2 grams per day out of a bong. Pot is very addictive i think more so than cigarettes. I have tried to give up with no luck (i have given up cigarettes) the longest i have gone without is a couple of days which included huge sweats during the night, massive mood swings, anxiety but the worst is insomnia. So anyone who says it is not addictive is very ill informed.

it depends on the person...I don't have an addictive behavior so I can smoke all I want or choose not to smoke at all.

Everyone is different, you must remember that!

I agree! I personally know that it is very addictive. I remember being told that it wasn't. However, I was addicted! Any foreign chemicals introduced into your body can be addictive, I think....
They alter your brain chemistry and the euporic feeling becomes addictive...

It is addictive on a psychological level, not on a physical one.
