when it comes to searching your car anything is probable cause it the eyes of a judge or police officer. Tell you alittle story just to show you the absurdity of it all. A buddy and I were leaving school, this was about 6 years ago, when a cop pulls us over. He takes our licenses and the registration. he comes back to the car and sees a pack of cigs laying on the dash. He tells us to get out of the car. So when we get out he tells us that he thinks there is marijuana in the pack of cigs. We tell him no there isn't'. he asks for permission to search the car, and we tell him that he can't search are car. (always tell them no) so he searches anyways and finds nothing. He writes us a ticket for the smoke and says its drug paraphernalia since it can be used to hold drugs. Went to court to fight it and the judge told us he could search because of the smokes he just couldn't write us a ticket for it.

Just so you non-LEO's know Reasonable Suspicion and Probable Cause is based on a law enforcement officers interpretation, training, and experience. These are not based on the general public's ideas or views. Sorry. You have to understand the LEO' see more than most and are trained more than most. Is speeding in a high drug area enough "PC" to search a car? I would say no. Being in a high drug area starts to add to the totality of the circumstances that can lead to reasonable suspicion, which in turn can lead to probable cause.
For all I know at that time you could have realized you were in the wrong neighborhood. Or, you just made a deal and wanted to leave your facilitator quickly.......

Well, if you can avoid that area I would say do it, although if the road you are on is a main thoroughfare then there is not enough PC. If a police officer sees you talking to a known drug dealer then yes you will get pulled over tan that is enough PC.

The short answer is no......not if you were speeding, there is no PC to search your car. However if, once they pull you over they develop PC or reasonable suspicion (smell drugs or alcohol or see drug paraphernalia for example) they have every right to search your car!

Depends. If you're a white guy in the middle of a primarily black neighborhood in the middle of the night, that's reasonable suspicion.

Sad to say cops can pretty much do what they want. No it shouldn't be enough but if the cops "thinks" you may be there doing something wrong, he can curve your rights. Cops lie and can't be trusted.

I think it would be. I am not a police officer, but what would you be doing in a high drug area if you are not a drug abuser?

Sounds suspicious to me...
