While you will get the typical age ranges, I just want to take a moment to share some info. Many people give their babies rice cereal, thinned with formula, in a bottle in the effort to get babies to sleep through the night. And yes, it works. HOWEVER, the reason it makes the babies sleep longer is because their poor little tummies aren't properly developed to handle solids of any sort yet. So they konk out while their bodies work overtime to digest this insult.
Your baby should be sitting fairly well with minimal support, good head control, and she should no longer push food out of her mouth (tongue-thrust reflex). Then you may feed her rice cereal with a spoon, not a bottle.

I gave all of my babies oatmeal baby cereal off a spoon at 3 weeks old. they didn't digest much, but it halped a little and that way I didn't risk the gassiness and possible choking that can come from cereal in a bottle. I made it really runny and just gave them each three or four spoon fulls in their mouths. They probably digested one total. It really depends on your baby though. some that are born pre-mature or with other health problems shouldn't try this at all. My children were all very robust healthy babies. I never gave them a lot at once, nor did I do it more than twice a day. Everyone will have different answers, you need to go by your instincts and what your baby seems to need.

With all 3 of my children I started giving it to them at 2 1/2 to 3 months. It helps to only give it in the evenings before bed. There is a theory that it helps them stay asleep longer during the night. Good Luck!!! Sometimes they wont take it at first but if you keep trying once a day they will take it. Ohh and you only need a little tiny bit (like less then a teaspoon full) becuz anymore then that and it will clog the nipple of the bottle and they wont be able to get anything out!!!

Not until they are at least 4mnths old. Doctors don't recommend it, my friends at work said because it makes babies gain a lot of weight, but everytime I picked up my son from the babysitter, she had a bottle w/ cereal, she'd hand to me. So.......honestly it really doesn't seem to do any harm. And my son is 2 and 1/2 and never was chubby at all. Just don't give it to them too young because they could choke. They have to be able to sit up by themselves.

I started my daughter on cereal at 4 months. She could almost sit up in the chair by herself, but did need to be propped. I gave it to her from a bowl mixed with lots of milk and then gradually added less milk over a period of about a week as she became more accustomed to eating food.

sure 3 weeks is merely too early.. and that i'm positive human beings answering this may inform you precisely why. =] starting up solids relies upon on the type of your infant. some say now to not start up untill 6 months precisely, yet want to consider that each infant is distinct. a infant might want to correctly be began on rice cereal everywhere between 4 and six months. At that age, they ought to attempt each of the cereals yet no longer be uncovered to fruit, and each little thing else untill 6 months of age ( degree a million ).. yet maximum mum and dad bypass ahead and start up fruit besides.. You infant's pediatrician will inform you precisely at the same time as to start up and a thanks to do it at his 4 month examine up =]

NEVER in the bottle - they can choke!

If you give it by spoon, wait until around 6 months of age. Before that, you run the risk of allergies and digestive problems.

As soon as you want, though it’s not necessary (unless you’d like to do it for fun).

Basically it is now recommended that you wait until they can sit up on their own before you start them on solids. This usually happens at around 6 months.

But, if you’re in a hurry then go ahead & start now.

when they are approximately 5 to 6 months old. just be sure not to give it before that age as that may increase allergies.
